When does an Ooni go on sale?

The pattern through the year

Roughly, it goes like this: demand climbs in spring and the discounts disappear, summer brings a clearance on the models being phased out, and November is the low point of the year.

• March to May: peak season, almost always list price
• July and August: summer sale, often up to twenty per cent off older models
• Black Friday and the weeks around it: usually the lowest point of the year
• December: discounts recede, because gift demand keeps prices up
• January and February: quiet, with the occasional sharp clearance lot

Outgoing models are the real bargains

The biggest discounts are not promotions on new models but models being replaced by their successor. As soon as the second generation lands, the first generation stock has to go.

You can see that clearly right now with the Koda 16, sitting alongside the Koda 2 Pro. You get the same sixteen-inch baking surface for hundreds of euros less, and you give up the finer temperature control and the built-in thermometer.

For pizza at five hundred degrees you will hardly notice that difference. For bread at two hundred and fifty, you will.

Mind where you compare

Ooni’s own list price is not automatically the lowest. bol, Amazon and Coolblue run promotions at different moments from the manufacturer, and the gap between the dearest and the cheapest shop on the same oven is regularly forty to sixty euros.

Buy from Ooni directly and you do have the shortest line for warranty and spare parts. On an appliance with an ignition and a gas regulator that is worth something — factor it in when the price difference is small.

The practical rule

If you are in a hurry, buy from whichever shop is cheapest today and do not look back. It will cost you a few tens of euros at most.

If you are not in a hurry and it is September, waiting until November is nearly always worth it. On a seven-hundred-euro oven that gap runs to well over a hundred.
